Abstract

Objective:To evaluate clinical therapeutic effects and safety of joint mobilization combined with ice therapy for treatment of frozen shoulder.Method:Sixty-five patients with frozen shoulder were randomly divided into two groups:the combined treatment group(n=33) receiving joint mobilization combined with ice therapy, and the control group(n=32) receiving joint mobilization only. All the patients were assessed with Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and Constant-Murley Scale(C-M scale) before and after the treatment. Results:After treatment for 15 days,VAS scores were significantly reduced, and C-M(only ADL and ROM) scores were significantly increased in both two groups as compared with those before treatment ,more significantly in the combined treatment group(P0.01).After treatment, there were no obvious side effects in both two groups. The clinical effects in the combined group were superior to those in the control group(P0.05).Conclusion:Joint mobilization combined with ice therapy for frozen shoulder can obviously increase the curative rate and improve the motor function of the shoulder joint.
