Abstract

Hefei Basin is the currently least studied and explored large scaled basin in eastern China.Although former geologists made a division of the structural units of the basin,it is regarded as a not quite rational division scheme by the authors. In this paper the scheme and problems with it are discussed before a renewal is made dealing with Mesozoic and Cenozoic eras respectively based on Bouguer gravity anomaly features as well as Mesozoic and Cenozoic sedimentary characteristics of the basin. It is structurally divided into 6 secondary units for Mesozoic in terms of structure, and into 4 units in terms of basinal classification. It is also suggested that the Yingshan and Dingyuan depressions are not of Hefei Basin in the light of the nature of depression controlled faults.
