Influence of Electroacupuncture at Quchi and Zusanli on Neurologic Deficit Impairment in Rats with Cerebral Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury

Abstract

Objective:To study the influence of electroacupuncture at Quchi(LI 11) and Zusanli(ST 36) on the neurologic deficit impairment in rats with cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury.Methods:The model of reversible middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO)-reperfusion was established by improved suture method in Wistar rats.These rats were randomly divided into 5 groups:normal group,sham group,model group,electroacupuncture acupoints group and electroacupuncture non-acupoints group.Furthermore,every group was randomly subdivided into 3 time points 1 day,3 days and 7 days after reperfusion.We observed the neural deficit score at 1-day,3-day and 7-day ischemia-reperfusion points by Zea-Longa method.Results:The neurologic deficit impairment in model group could heal spontaneously in varying degrees with increasing ischemia reperfusion time.The score of neurologic deficit impairment was reduced at 3-day and 7-day ischemia-reperfusion points more signigicantly in electroacupuncture acupoints group than in electroacupuncture non-acupoints group and model group(P0.05).Conclusion:Electroacupuncture at acupoints Quchi(LI 11) and Zusanli(ST 36) can specifically relieve neurologic deficit impairment in cerebral ischemia -reperfusion injury rats.
