Abstract
A flow injection spectrometric method was developed for determination of formaldehyde in leather wastewater. The method was based on the combination of chromotropic acid with formaldehyde under acidic and heating conditions. The complex compound had maximum absorption wavelength at 390 nm. Additionally, the chemical factors and FIA variables affecting the system were also discussed. The detect limit was 0.01μg/L calculated from three times the average background noise. The linearity concentration range of the calculation curve was from 0.02~5 mg/L. And the relative standard deviation was 0.30%,0.42% (n=11) obtained by injecting 100mg/L,100μg/L standard formaldehyde solution, respectively. The proposed method was successfully applied to determine formaldehyde in leather wastewater.
