Abstract

Objective To close the space of absence of lower first molar by orthodonticis measure of movement of distal lower second molar and suspension and erection of impacted lower third molar. Methods 12 cases with lower first molars of severe caries or absence in one side while healthy lower second molar and horizontal impacted lower third molar were detected in the same area.4 cases needed be extracted lower first molars of severe caries. The other 8 patients had lost one lower first molar because of odontonecrosis. All of patients were given the orthodontic treatment of moving the distal molar to replace the absence.Rebuilding of lower second and third molar alveolar bone were statistical analyzed between pre-treatment and post-treatment.Results After 22 to 32 months of treatment, all cases ended in perfect contact and occlusion and had good rebuilding of alveolar bone of movement of distal molars in panoramic radiographs. Conclusion Movement of distal lower second molar and suspension and erection of horizontal impacted lower third molar was much better than traditional restoration of lost molar in certain cases.
