Abstract

[Objective] The purpose was to study the segregation characteristics of F2:3 family lines which were developed from the cross between a normal maize inbred 8984 and a high-oil inbred GY220 cross and analyze their correlation.[Method] Eight plant traits of F2:3 family lines were analyzed in summer sowing environment.[Result] The results showed that there were significant differences among F2:3 family lines for all plant traits. All traits showed normal distributions, with obvious segregations beyond the two parents. There were significant or highly significant positive correlations between plant height and ear height, top height, leaf number on ear, leaf area, length of tassel, tassel branch number, between top height and ratio of top height and plant height, leaf number above top ear, leaf area, length of tassel, tassel branch number, between ratio of top height and plant height and leaf number on ear, between leaf number on ear and leaf area, tassel branch number, ear height, length of tassel. While ratio of top height and plant height was the significant or highly significantly negatively correlated with plant height, ear height, leaf area, tassel branches.[Conclusion] The study provides a scientific basis for high-oil breeding and molecular heredity studies.
