Abstract

Objective:To investigate the difference between mild chronic periodontitis and moderate to severe chronic periodontitis on carrying susceptible alleles. Methods:We examined the periodontal clinical indexs in included individuals.Genomic DNA was extracted from peripheral venous blood.Polymerase chain reaction and cleavage were used for detecting the frequencies of five susceptible gene polymorphism in chronic periodontitis patients and healthy controls. Results:The percentage of the moderate to severe chronic periodontitis patients who taking more than three susceptible alleles was 56.6%,in mild chronic periodontitis was 12.5%,in healthy controls was 7.5%.The difference among the moderate to severe chronic periodontitis patients, mild chronic periodontitis and healthy controls was statistically significant(P0.01),but no difference was found between the mild periodontitis patients and controls. The clinical attachment loss in moderate to severe chronic periodontitis patients who taking VDR-TT,ER-XX alleles was more than which in moderate to severe chronic periodontitis patients who taking VDR-tt,ER-xx alleles. The difference between the two groups was statistically significant. Conclusion:Carrying more than three susceptible alleles has important effect on the development of chronic periodontitis.VDR-TT and ER-XX genotype may be susceptible indicator for chronic periodontitis.
