Analysis on Agricultural Total Factor Productivity of Sichuan Province Based on Malmquist Index

Based on the panel data about agriculture industry of Sichuan province from 1999 to 2008,a Malmquist index approach was used to measure the agricultural total factor productivity(TFP) of Sichuan province.The result showed that the agricultural total factor productivity grew at 4.2% annually;The growth of total factor productivity came from technical progress,while the decline in technical efficiency hindered the growth of total factor productivity;from the cities(state) situation,in addition to Aba prefecture,whose agricultural total factor productivity growth was negative,the other 20 cities(state) agricultural total factor productivity had achieved positive growth;in addition to Aba prefecture,the sustainability of agriculture in other cities(state) was enhanced.At last,some corresponding policy recommendations was concluded.
