Abstract
The DC current flowing into transformer winding through ground neutral point may lead to a series of damages to the power transformer in monopolar ground return operation mode of HVDC transmission.Along with the application and development of HVDC transmission system,DC magnetic bias has been attached more and more importance. The research on DC magnetic bias problems will not only contribute to revealing the bias mechanism but also provides an important guide to the design and operation of transformer. This paper performs DC magnetic bias tests to which the Epstein square is applied. All harmonics of exciting current are analyzed to study the effect of DC magnetic bias on exciting current and saturated iron core.
