Abstract

In the history of the 20th century Chinese culture, Qian Zhongshu and Lu Xun are two most outstanding figures, with great achievements in their respective fields. It is worthwhile to examine the similarities and differences in the academic thoughts of the two. Their comments on Jin Shengtai and Jikang and their criticisms of the society and human nature reveal that the two masters share alarmingly similar views on literatery study, academic research and cultural criticism, which offers a new look into the deeper level of Chinese culture.
