Abstract

[Objective] Maturity during aerobic composting of chicken manure was determined and evaluated to provide reference for compost production.[Method] Determination of indicators with practical significance at different time of maturity and standard harmless manure was conducted under laboratory simulated fermentation of chicken manure compost by using homemade simple fermenter, and the maturity of the composting was analysed and evaluated.[Results] Aerobic composting reached the highest temperature 50-55 ℃ for 5 to 7 days. The range of pH was between 7.3 and 8.6.The moisture content was in the vicinity of about 60%.The content of organic matter was dropped from 86.2% to 63.9 %.The C/N decreased from the initial 24.7 to 20.0、0 in the twelfth day of the composting.Seed germination index was more than 80% in the tenth day of the composting.Coliform group value increased from 0.001 to 0.173.The mortality rate of ascaris eggs was more than 95% in the seventh day.[Conclusion] The indicators of the temperature in the composting process,pH,moisture content, organic matter content,C/N,seed germination index, coliform group value and ascaris eggs mortality had reached the requirements of the chicken aerobic composting and ensured the full maturity of the compost.
