Abstract

Zirconium based montmorillonite is one of the most interesting porous materials in the world. Because of its high surface area, basal spacing and pore volume, it has good capability of adsorption and catalysis. In recent years, study on Zr-based pillared montmorillonite is mainly focused on preparation of compound pillared montmorillonite and its application in aspects of organic and heave metal adsorption and catalyzing organic reactions. Studies on pillaring mechanism and basal structures are to bo developed further.
