Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the effects of on the hard and soft tissue around the dental implants. Methods:42 patients who would undergo implant placement were designed as smoking group, smoked and nonsmoking group.Changes of marginal bone and soft tissue were recorded when implant placed and 1 year after final restorations placed. Results:There was significant difference in the modified sulcus bleeding index between the group of smokers and nonsmokers. And there was significant difference in the probing depth among group and the others. There was no significant difference in the other indices among 3 groups. Conclusions:Smoking is a dangerous factor for the implant restoration. The patients should be advised of the poor prognosis of implants in smokers.
