Establishment of Model for Non-filamentous Sludge Bulking in Sequencing Batch Reactor

Abstract

The synthetic wastewater with sodium acetate and glucose as substrate was used as influent of SBR.Through fixing concentration of DO and adjustment of C/N ratio and organic loading,the influence of C/N ratio on SBR was investigated from both macroscopic and microcosmic aspects.A model for non-filamentous sludge bulking in SBR was established.The results show that non-filamentous sludge bulking occurs when the influent C/N ratio is 52,organic loading is 1.0 to 1.5 kg/(kg·d),and DO is 5 to 7 mg/L.In the establishment of model for non-filamentous sludge bulking,although the settleability of activated sludge becomes poorer and the effluent is turbid with lower transparency,COD and NH+4-N are still effectively removed,and their removal rates are more than 90%.
