A Comparative Study on the Shift of Population,Economic and Industrial Gravity Centers in Shandong Province from the Year of 2000 to 2012

The paper studies the shift track of the population,economic and industry gravity centers in Shandong Province from the year of 2000 to 2012 by using the concept and model of regional gravity center,it also carries out the comparative analysis on the spatial evolution relationship between population distribution and economic distribution. The results show that the population gravity center is located in the southwest region of geometric center of Shandong Province,while economic gravity center is located in the northeast area. They reveal that the province has an unbalanced development of regional population and economy,meanwhile,the economic distribution imbalances is worse than that of population. Both the population and economic gravity centers consistently move towards the southwest in the last decade. There are interactions between economic development and population shift,but the shift rate of population gravity center lags behind that of the economic gravity center. This process narrows the spatial distance between them. It reflects the incompatibility of population and economic development is easing,and the regional disparities in the whole region are getting smaller. The spatial evolution of the second industry is an important factor affecting population distribution.
