Abstract

The Academic Self and the Academic Other constitute two inseparable and interdependent entities in the academic research community. The Academic Self is the starting point, emotional basis and the core of academic research. In contrast,at the beginning of academic exchange, the Academic Other compliments and enriches the Academic Self and acts as the framework of reference for the Academic Self.So the Academic Self and the Academic Other mutually reflect on and interact with each other.Overemphasizing either of them will impair the healthy development of academic research. How to handle the two is an epistemological issue in the academic research that can not afford to be ignored.Embracing academic bravery by holding on to one's individual insight, possessing academic leniency, managing the difference in academic research are fundamental principles in handling the relationship between the Academic Self and Academic Other.
