Percutaneous transpepatic gallbladder drainage under the guidance of ultrasound in the treatment of acute severe cholecystitis

Objective To investigate the value of percutaneous transpepatic gallbladder drainage guided by ultrasound in the treatment of acute cholecystitis.Methods Retrospective analysis was performed in 97 clinical cases with acute severe cholecystitis from Jun 2005 to Jun 2008.All patients underwent percutaneous gallbladder drainage guided by ultrasound.Results All 97 cases of acute cholecystitis were drainaged and symptom of acute cholecystitis in 96 cases were controlled effectively(1 case died of failure of multiple organs on the next day after operation).Cholecystectomy was performed in 76 patients in 3～6 weeks after drainage,and all of them recovered and discharged later.The symptoms were alleviated in 4 acute non-stone cholecysdds patients and discharged without the drainage tubes.In other 16 cases unbearable to cholecystectomy,the drainage tubes were followed up for as long as 1 year.Conclusion Percutaneous transpepatic gallbladder drainage guided by ultrasound is valuabe in the treatment of acute severe cholecystitis.
