Abstract

The academe neglects the pictorial information of the Nanjing-style illustrations which are fully embodied in the 197 pieces in A Journey to the West published by the Shidetang Publishing House.Compared with Huizhou-style and Jianyang-style,Nanjing-style is marked by bigger pictures,clearer characters and bolder lines which boosted the spread of the book.
