Abstract
Because the close relationship with the concentrated prehistoric settlements and ancient cities in the area, the landform evolution research was paid more attention in the Yiluo River Basin of Henan Province. But the former research focused on the landform characteristics description under the macro space-time scale, and the division of landform types and the analysis of landform evolution characteristics were not careful. So that it is difficult to make the following research.Based on the field investigation, related literature and the drawing and special analysis function of GIS,this paper analyzed the Pleistocene landform characteristics and evolution of the Yiluo River Basin more carefully. Some landform units were divided according to former landform types. Then the area and proportion of all kinds of landform were measured and calculated, and the climatic and tectonic drive was reviewed. It was hoped that these can lay a certain foundation for the ancient human-land relationship research in this area. The results showed the New Tectonic Movement mainly represented the intermittent ascent since the Neogene. It decided the macro landform characteristics of this area. The climate fluctuation main represented accumulating and corroding in the landform evolution process since the Neogene. It modified the areal landform ender the less scale. The modern landform characteristics of the Yiluo River Basin were the results of combine action of many factors like tectonic and climate.Although the Yanshan Movement laid the landform profile foundation of the Yiluo River Basin, the regional landform continued evolution based on inside and outside force later. In this situation, the modern landform characteristics were formed gradually and still continued evolution.
