Abstract
Hybrid rumex ( Rumex patientia×tianshanicus) was treated with 200 mmol/L NaCl for two weeks and then the changes in the ultrastructure of its leaf and root cells were observed. It was found that chloroplasts in leaf cells were damaged to a varying extent, thylakoids became swollen and disordered, grana lamellae and stroma lamellae appeared to be obscured or even completely disparted and the structure of mitochondria was also damaged. In root cells, nuclear membranes appeared obscure, cell walls became thicker and the number of mitochondria increased and their membranes also became obscure for observation. Some heavily dyed bodies were observed in leaf cytoplasm and large vacuoles were found in both leaf and root cells.
