On the Formation of Foreign Prose Poetry and Its Influence on the Style ofModern Chinese Poetry

Prose poetry is a universal literary style which interacted with poetry and prose in the course of its formation. The Chinese prose poetry of the 20th century was the product in a special age of combining Chinese and foreign literary styles similar to the prose poetry, and the result of the domestication of Western prose poetry, greatly influencing the building of the Chinese new poetic style. The Chinese prose poetry underwent great changes. In the West, the prose poetry is more like essays while in China it is more like poems. Prose poetry is considered an inexact name. The fact that sometimes it is regarded as the same as prose and poetry results in the confusion in the building of the literary style of Chinese prose poetry and that of the Chinese new poetry.
