Abstract
The development of flash point test method is firstly introduced, and then the application ranges of some internationally accepted test methods for flash point are compared. On this basis, the main factors in the process of flash point determination are theoretically analyzed, among which, the water content, the heating rate and the flame diameter are experimentally investigated, using the open cup flash point apparatus and the closed cup flash point apparatus. Study showed that:1) flash point increases with water content rise;2) heating rate has slight impact on flash point, and higher heating rate leads to lower flash point;3) flash point decreases when flame diameter increases. Based upon the results of both theoretical analyze and experimental study,a method that can reduce,or even eliminate the effects of the main impacting factors during the process of flash point determination is presented to improve the accuracy of the flash point test.
