Effects of Different Hydrophytes Combinations in Absorption of Nitrogen and Phosphorus in Ningxia

Abstract

Nymphaea tetragona,Typha angustifolia L,Phragmites communis Trirn,Nymphoides peltatum,Scirpus triqueter L.,Potamogeton perfoliatus L.and Acorus calamus Linn.are effective hydrophytes in cleaning waste water.This study was designed to screen a more efficient combination of such dydrophytes from different combination assays for developing an optimized decontamination group for practical usage.The blank control consists of washed sand without any hydrophytes growing.The nitrogen and phosphorus inside the water would be measured before and after the assays.The results showed that all hydrophytes grew well through the study,and each of them was effective in absorption of nitrogen and phosphorus.Comparatively,Nymphaea tetragonaand Typha angustifolia L combination and Phragmites communis Trirn with Nymphoides peltatumcombination were two groups that were more efficient in decreasing the nitrogen and phosphorus as well as promotion of biomass inside the entrophic water than others.
