Abstract
The cost of telecommunications networks is the foundation of telecommunications regulation economics. Presently there are no cost models of telecommunications networks in China. The cost engineering of telecommunications networks studies how to combine the engineering analysis models with econometrics to calculate the cost of telecommunications networks. Using the cost engineering models to study the cost of telecommunications networks could get a breakthrough in the research of telecommunications regulation economics. This paper introduces the status quo, contents, object and key problems of the study of the cost of telecommunications networks. Moreover, the characteristics and innovations of the cost engineering models for telecommunication networks are presented.
