Abstract

The response characteristic of runoff and sediment production in runoff plots in the Gorges Reservoir at large stimulated rainfall intensity has been studied based on two different slopes which are 15°and 25°.The results show that the time producing runoff becomes short with the increase of slope during rainfall process. With runoff duration runoff velocity increased and then decreased, runoff amount increases continuously which the greater slope caused the larger value.During runoff process the quantity of runoff sediment increases firstly and reduces gradually and tends to be stable, and the peak of quantity of sediment filled out with the increase of slope and constantly the time of peak advances.Modeling runoff velocity and erosion sediment yield,in 15°runoff velocity decreases with increase of erosion sediment yield and becomes large in 25°.
