Abstract

Objective To study the effects of kakkonein on the protein expression of Bcl-2 and Bax in rat retina after acute intraocular hypertension. Methods After acute intraocular hypertension, changes in protein expression of Bcl-2 and Bax were detected by immunohistochemical method. Results In group A,there is positive expression of Bcl-2 and Bax protein. In group B,the level of positive expression of Bcl-2 and Bax protein was increased from 12h to 48h,and there is statistical difference as compared to group A(P﹤0.01).There was statistical difference on the expression of Bcl-2 and Bax between Group B and C from 12h to 48h(P﹤0.05).Conclusion The protein expression of Bcl-2 and Bax was increased in rat retina after acute intraocular hypertension and kakkonein could upregulate Bcl-2 expression and downregulate Bax expression.
