English-Chinese Cultural Difference Reflected by Color Words

Abstract

Language is closely related to culture.Vocabulary of a language reflects its cultural connotation,and color words can also reflect the specific cultural connotation—there is difference in the understanding and application of the color in different cultural background.By giving examples,the essay analyzes the different cultural connotations reflected by color words and possible reasons in order to get better understanding of color words and the cultural difference between Chinese and English,thus to promote the exchange of the two cultures.
