Abstract
This study was conducted to accurately investigate the carbon distribution and density in the grassland ecosystem, which holds great significance for estimation of vegetation carbon storage, carbon trade judgment, rational investment of grassland resource and the study of carbon cycling on the land ecosystem for different grassland patterns.Based on the field and lab analysis, the carbon distribution and density of 6 different grassland patterns(Filifolium sibiricum grassland,Stipa baicalensis grassland,Leucopoa albida grassland, forest adjacent forbs meadow, valley meadow and Agropyron mongolicum grassland)in Saihanwula nature reserve were investigated. The results showed that the carbon densities of the aerial part range 89.61-240.20g/m2,underground part range 965.74-1520.00g/m2 and total vegetation carbon density varies within 1148.21-1616.99g/m2 in Saihanwula nature reserve. In the carbon distributions, vegetation living layer, litter layer and underground part range 4.59%-12.81%,0.91%-6.56% and 83.94%-94.43%,respectively.Carbon density of the underground part greatly varies according to the soil depths and the density in 0-10cm is significantly greater, seizing 56.86% of the total amount.
