FDI Intra-industry Spillovers or Inter-industry Spillovers——An Empirical Analysis Based on Industry-level Panel Data from Guangdong

This study tests for the presence of FDI intra-industry spillovers and inter-industry spillovers based on industry-level data from Province Guangdong.We find positive productivity spillovers from FDI taking place through backward linkages,and negative spillovers occurring through horizontal channel,but no robust evidence of spillovers taking place through forward linkages.The data also indicate that positive backward spillovers are associated with domestic-market-oriented FDI and non-state-owned enterprises but not export-market-oriented FDI and state-owned enterprises.
