Abstract
A number of studies have shown immune responses are involved in the initiation and development of atherosclerosis. However, the role of immune responses in atherosclerosis goes to two sides: activation of immune responses may promote atherosclerosis on one hand, whereas on the other hand it may inhibit atherosclerosis. Therefore, appropriate immunomodulation may provide new approaches for atherosclerosis prevention and treatment.
