Abstract
Objective To observe the morphometric changes of the corneal endothelial cells in acute angle-closure glaucoma and chronic angle-closure glaucoma. Methods A total of 18 patients with acute angle-closure glaucoma were divided into two groups:the acute group(eyes in the acute attack stage,IOP were controlled well n= 18)and the pre-clinical stage group(the other eyes in pre-clinical stage,n=18).And A total of 20 patients(26 eyes)with chronic angle-closure glaucoma(vision)were observed(eyes with medium visual field deterioration or more).Cell density(CD),minimum cellular area(MIN),maximum cellular area(MAX),average cellular area of the centre corneal endothelium(AVG),standard deviation of AVG(SD)and coefficient of variation of cellular area(CV)were determined by a non-contact specular microscope and a computer aid image analysis system. The statistical significance of the above indexes was analyzed. Results Compared with the pre-clinical stage group and chronic angle-closure glaucoma group respectively,CD were significantly decreased in the acute group(P0.01),but MIN,MAX,AVG,SD,CV was significantly increased in the acute group(P0.01).Conclusion Cell density is significantly decreased but cell pantomorphia is significantly increased in eyes of the acute IOP-increased.The damage degree of the corneal endothelial cells in acute angle-closure glaucoma is significantly relate to the time of high IOP.
