Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor-C (VEGF-C) and its receptor flt-4 in human non-small-cell lung cancer tissue and their paratumour tissues in pursuit of their role in lymph node metastasis and other clinical significance.Methods Thirty-six fresh non-small-cell lung cancer tissue and their paratumour tissue were examined by RT-PCR to detect the VEGF-C/flt-4 mRNA expression.Results There was a significant relationship between VEGF-C mRNA and flt-4 mRNA expression in paratumour tissue.COMVEGF-C expression was significantly associated with the grade of tumor pathology (P 0.01) and lymph node metastasis (P 0.01).Conclusion COMVEGF-C may play an important role in the lymph node metastasis and could be a useful biological marker to foresee the lymph node metastasis.
