Abstract
Objective:To compare the effect of different dressing medications on pulpotomy in primary molars of minipigs.Methods:Thirty six molars of 6 minipigs were assigned to 4 groups randomly,9 teeth in each group.Calcium hydroxide(CH),calcium hydroxide iodoform(CHI),glutaraldehyde(GAL)and formocresol(FC) were used for pulpotomy in each group respectively.Contralateral corresponding teeth were used as controls.The interval of radiographic observation were available at 2,4 and 6 months.Histological observation were performed at 4,6 months after treatment.Results:The radiographic observation revealed that none of exprimental teeth were failure.Pulpotomies were no influence on lifespan of primary molars versus controls.The histological examination showed that experimental teeth in group CH(88 8%),CHI(100%),GAL(100%)had formed reparative dentin bridge and the residual pulp were free from inflammation.No completely reparative dentin bridge had formed in FC group and inflammatory cells were found in the remaining pulp tissue even in periapical region.Conclusion:CHI and GAL are considered as good dressing medications on pulpotomy in primary molars.
