Investigation on Condom-use among Patients with Sexually Transmitted Disease

Abstract

Objective To investigate the knowledge,behavior and attitude of condom-use among patients with sexually transmitted disease(STD),so as to provide evidence for health education,prevention and intervention of AIDS.Methods A total of 280 STD patients were surveyed on demographic characters,knowledge,behaviors and attitudes on condom-use by self-designed questionnaire.Data were described and analyzed by means of SPSS13.0.Results(1) Patients with a complete knowledge of condom-use accounted for 10.4%;about 17.9% of patients had an accuracy less than 50% in answering the questions.(2)Patients with SDT had high risk behaviors for HIV,and they had a poor knowledge of condom-use for prevention of STD and AIDS.Conclusion Health education among patients with STD,emphasis on the role of condom in preventing STD/AIDS,and correct use of condom are important for strengthening AIDS prevention in STD outpatient departments.
