Yuan Zhen and the Reform of Imperial Documents Writing in the Context of Conflict within Eunuch Groups

The association between Yuan Zhen and eunuchs occurred in the political background of intense conflict within eunuch groups in the Yuanhe Period of Tang Dynasty.Yuan Zhen was accepted by the Yuanhe rebellious eunuch group due to his sharp disagreement with the Tutuchencui eunuch group.From the end of Yuanhe Period to the beginning of Changqing Period,Yuan Zhen was used by the Yuanhe rebellious eunuch group as an instrument in attacking its political rival.Yuan Zhen also made use of imperial documents as tools fighting against his political opponents and wooing political allies.However,Yuan Zhen's behavior deviated exactly from his original intention in reforming imperial documents writing,that through objective and clear narrative and less political bias,the imperial documents should help judge the good and evil to make the documents more solemn,educative and convincing.
