Effects of isoproterenol on myocardial hypertrophy correlational factors in rats

Abstract

Objective To explore the effects of isoproterenol(Iso)on myocardial hypertrophy and correlational factors in rats.Methods 30 wistar rats were randomly divided into control and Iso group.The Iso group was injected with Iso 5 mg/(kg·d,sc)for 7 days;The control group was injected with saline.On the 8th day,the rats were anesthesiaed by chloral hydrate,monitored in terms of myocardial indexes(heart weight/body weight,HW/BW and left ventricular weight/body weight,LVW/BW)and thickness of left free ventricular wall.The contents of hydroxyproline(Hyp)in myocardium of left ventricle and blood serum were detected,then the contents of related collagen were calculated.The contents of malondialdehyde(MDA)and the activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD)in left ventricle were assayed with spectrophotometry,respectively.Results Compared with the control group,the myocardial indexes,the thickness of left free ventricular wall,the levels of collagen(in left ventricle and in blood serum),the level of malondialdehyde in left ventricle were signigicantly increased and the activity of superoxide dismutase in left ventricle was decreased.Conclusion Iso could induce myocardial hypertrophy and change levels of correlational factors in rats.
