Abstract

AIM: To investigate the clinical significance of three standard views of two-dimensional ultrasound in screening of fetal congenital heart diseases.METHODS: From 2006 to 2008,three standard views of two-dimensional ultrasound were performed to scan 2609 fetal hearts.Three standard views of heart included four-chamber view, right and left ventricular inflow tract view and three blood vessel view. The fetuses with cardiac malformations found by three standard views were scanned also by echocardiography and the results were compared.RESULTS: Forty-three hearts with fetal congenital heart diseases were found by three standard views of two-dimensional ultrasound, which were confirmed by echocardiography in antepartum and postpartum or by fetal necroscopy.Four cases were misdiagnosed and six cases were missed diagnoses. There was no significant difference between the two methods(P0.05).CONCLUSION: Three standard views of two-dimensional ultrasound can screen out most of the fetal heart malformation, which is effective for the primary diagnosis of fetal congenital heart diseases.
