Abstract
Polypropylene(PP)/Montmorillonite (MMT) nanocomposites were prepared by melt intercalation method through orthogonal experiments. And the factors that affect the characters of the composites are studied. Among these factors, the contents of montmorillonite is the one which affects the character of the composites most, and it should be 1%. It is showed that the compatilizer can modify the interface properties between polypropylene and montmorillonite, with its contents being over 20%. The morphology characters of the result products were investigated by SEM. The SEM image indicates that the MMT layers which have reached nano-level in PP matrix can reinforce the interface interaction, so the mechanical property of the nanocomposites was mechanically upgraded.
