Abstract

Rock bursts are violent failures in the ground, which break rock and expel it into excavation.Rock bursts have caused numerous casualty accidents and damages of underground workings,so the control of rock bursts is one major problem for deep underground mining from the both aspects of safety and economy. The Chaoyang Coal Mine is one of the deepest underground coal mines in China. The depth of initial mining is 600m,in the evening of mining,it is 1200m.At the beginning of mining, some faintness rock bursts phenomena have already happened. In order to evaluate the rock burst-prone of deep coal seams, the coal samples of different site were tested to study their mechanic properties and dynamic failure behaviors. The burst-prone identification results for coal seam at deep level are obtained. Moreover, the burst-prone change of the coal samples before and after water immersion were tested, the experimental results provide data for prevention and control of rock bursts.
