Abstract
Objective To establish a method for determination of trace barium in drinking water by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry with lanthanum-coated graphite tube. Methods Trace barium in drinking water was determined by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry with lanthanum-coated graphite tube using magnesium nitrate as matrix modifier and nitric acid as media. Results The recovery was from 90.0% to 106.7%.The calibration graph linear was 10-1000 μg/L for barium with a correlation coefficient of not less than 0.999 7,and the relative standard deviation was less than 7.7%(n=6).Conclusion The method is linear widely with good precision, and the interference of memory for barium is excluded. It has been successfully applied to the determination of barium in drinking water.
