Abstract
Based on the geometric model of modified bent single-mode fiber a simple formula is adopted for analyzing the relation between the bending loss of single-mode fiber and the radius of curvature,and the relation between the bending loss of single-mode fiber and the wavelength.The oscillations phenomenon of bending loss is observed,and the oscillations phenomenon is caused by the coupling between fundamental mode and whispering gallery mode in fiber jacket.Furthermore,characteristics of the bending loss are discussed,and the formula for peak-valley location is obtained and may be of some reference value.And a good agreement between the experimental results and the theoretical analysis is reached.
