Measuring and Analyzing the Functional Specialization of Chinese Urban Agglomeration

The paper measures and analysis the degree of functional urban specialization of Chinese urban agglomeration.The results show that,the functional urban specialization of Chinese urban agglomeration has been decreasing annually from 2003 to 2010 on the whole,but it shows the trend of increasing since 2008.There is the regional difference between areas.The eastern areas are higher than the middle and western areas,and its gap is gradually expanding.The functional urban specialization of core cities is higher than the periphery cities and its gap is gradually expanding,but the index of core cities is decreasing by itself.Also,the more high the urban hierarchy,the more high the functional urban specialization,and there is differential characteristics between different urban hierarchies.
