Diagnostic Value of Inflatable Colon Multilayer Spiral CT on Colonic Lesions

Objective To evaluate the application value of inflatable colon spiral CT in the diagnosis of colonic lesions. Methods 28 patients suspected of colon cancer were given routine abdominal CT scan and inflatable colon spiral CT,and these results were compared with the results of colonoscopy.χ2 test was used to compare detection rate. Results(1) In the colonoscopy pathological examination,39 lesions were detected in the 28 patients suspected of colon cancer,including 17 cases of colon cancer(6 cases of carcinoma of sigmoid,4 cases of rectal cancer,4 cases of ascending colon carcinoma,3 cases descending colon carcinoma)6 cases of rectal polyp,3 cases of sigmoid colon polyps and 2 cases of colonitis.While in the CT examination,6 lesions(15.3%) were detected,and their diameters were all ≥30 mm.Inflatable colon spiral CT detected 33 lesions(84.6%),and 7 lesions were 3 mm≤T5 mm,7 lesions were 5 mm≤T10 mm,5 lesions were 10 mm≤T20 mm,6 lesions were 20 mm≤T30 mm and 8 lesions were T≥30 mm.The detection rate of the two methods showed statistically significant difference(P0.01).(2) According to colonoscopy pathological examination,11 cases had involvement of tissues out of the serosa,and 8 cases(8/11) were detected by routine CT,10 cases(10/11) were detected by inflatable colon spiral CT,and the difference between the two was statistically significant(P0.05). Conclusion As a non-invasive clinical examination,inflatable colon spiral CT has high detection rate on colonic lesions and is of good value on lesion staging.It can be taken as a method for the screening,preoperative assessment and following up of colon tumor.
