Abstract
The college students, as a special group, their emotional intelligence development is on an important stage.Based on this, using 9-factor Emotional Intelligence Scale, 200 freshmen were selected by randomized block sampling and tested. The results show that the emotional intelligence of freshmen tend to be positive in general, but the development of the inner construction was unbalance.The level of emotional awareness takes precedence over the level of emotional regulation meanwhile the level of emotional regulation takes precedence over emotional expression and appraisal; there are some differences in majors and gender in the emotional intelligence of freshmen.
