Abstract
The higher of ancient China started in the dynasties of Xia,Shang and Zhou while modern Chinese higher originated in the Westernization Movement period.Since the founding of the PRC,modern higher in China has witnessed 50 years of development,churning out millions of advanced professional talents especially after China’s inception of the Reform and Opening-up policy.From the 1990s and on,higher in China has been developing steadily,prominently marked by such features: the enrollment scale of universities has been continuously expanded and the gross attendance rate for higher has been notably increasing.Since 1999,higher in China has reached its golden age of development,evolving from elite education into popular education.
