Abstract

Quorum sensing is mediated through a production of diffusible signal molecules termed autoinducer, which enable bacteria to regulate the transcription of multiple target genes in concerted with cell density. In this article, the structure and synthesis of autoinducer are presented.Several Gram-negative bacterial how to regulate their physiological activity through quorum-sensing will be discussed.
