Abstract
This study aims to explore the relationship between college students' psychological needs or Internet control self-efficacy and their Internet addiction,by using the Chinese-Language Internet Addiction Scale, the Questionnaire on College Students' Internet Gratification over Their Psychological Needs, and the Internet Control Self-Efficacy Questionnaire to test 1183 students from 5 colleges and universities. The results show the following: the college students' practical(or Internet) gratification over their psychological needs has a significant correlation with their Internet addiction;their practical gratification over their psychological needs can be used to negatively predict their Internet addiction, but their Internet gratification over their psychological needs can be used to positively predict their Internet addiction;their Internet control selfefficacy serves as the mediator between their practical(rather than Internet) gratification over their psychological needs and their Internet addiction. The research results are of certain importance to the prevention and intervention of college students' Internet addiction.
