On the Cultural Function of Poetry of the Song Dynasty in Entertainment

In the early Song Dynasty,the Court made enjoying beautiful flowers and fishing as well as composing poems at feast a common practice and rule,which developed into a cultural custom of feast and recreation. Ci found its place in such a custom-to recreate guests at feast.Its cultural role is recreational,soul-searching and aesthetic.The cultural function of ci ,which is quite different from Confucian orthodoxy of poetry,is the development of literary function in the Song Dynasty and shows that people of the Dynasty were aware of human nature.
