Abstract
In this paper, taking the Yushu (榆树), Jilin province, earthquake (M = 5%) of April 13, 1960 as on example, the characteristic variations of microseism (Period; 3s-12s) recorded at the Changchun (长春) seismic station (Δ≈ 150 km) before the earthquake are analysed. The results show that (1) the horizontal amplitude of mic-roseisms increased abnormally, since August, 1959. (2) during the same period, on the ANS -AEW diagram. The observed predominant direction nearly coincides with the direction of the line connecting the station with the epicenter. It is probable, that such anomalies of the microseisms are related to the process of development of the Yiishu (榆树) earthquake source.
