Abstract

Objective To observe prerention of taurine and vitamin C from RNA damage of cerebral neurons in mice exposed to arsenic. Methods Forty mice were divided into 4 groups, one control and one experimental group receiving As2O3,two antagonistic groups receiving taurine with As2O3 or vitamin C with As2O3,were administered for 60 days.Immunohistochemistry method was used to investigate 8-nitroguanine expression in cerebral neurons of mice. Results The pathological changes and stronger expression of 8-nitroguanine were observed in the brain cortex of mice exposed to arsenic. In the two antagonistic groups, the light pathological changes and exprexssion of 8-nitroguanine were shown in brain tissue of mice. Conclusion Taurine and vitamin C may have the preventive effect on RNA damage of cerebral neurons in mice exposed to arsenic.
